AN INDIANA SUNSET + BASKETBALL INSPIRED WEDDING |LOVE & BASKETBALL

JORDAN + COURTNEY

This wedding was nothing short of what I expected it to be. I have known Courtney for a few years & was introduced to Jordan about a year ago. Courtney’s brother & his wife, Kelly, are some of my closest friends so I have had the joy of knowing Courtney even before her wedding day. She recently graduated from Purdue University where she finished with a very impressive career as their starting guard (feel free to read up on her amazing career stats HERE). I loved watching her when she came to play at OSU and I would even tune in to watch her on TV. Everyone basically knows she was a baller on the court, but even more impressive than her basketball skills is her humility & desire to better the lives of others. Want to know how she does that? Read more on that HERE. I just have to give a quick shout out to Courtney’s parents because I still can’t fathom this, but they have NEVER missed a basketball game of hers, EVER. Not 1 !! That’s 17 years of AAU travel ball, high school and Purdue games, both home and away. Also, she is very involved in FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), which leads us to Mr. Jordan Delks himself. These two met while still at Purdue attending FCA. From the very beginning, their relationship was rooted in a core value they shared, their faith. Jordan has relentlessly pursued her heart as any man should, and the rest of their story has unfolded before our eyes.

Jordan + Courtney are two of the most humble people. I usually do not attend rehearsal dinners for my weddings, but I did go to theirs & I am so happy I did. Listening to their family & friends tell stories about them simply reassured my view of them. They are a power couple who will  do big things for the Kingdom. I can tell already how they have such strong leadership qualities. Courtney has earned the respect of many people throughout her career & Jordan is a quality man. Together, they are better and stronger.

When I started to hear about all the details of this wedding, I could not contain my excitement. They were making this completely a basketball theme, as they both share a love for the game. Jordan also played basketball & currently is on the coaching staff at Indiana Wesleyan University (my alum!!). The original plan was to get married on a basketball court. They had set all the chairs up the day before, but come wedding day, the area was saturated with a good three inches of rain. Sadly, the chairs were almost floating. As the wedding hour approached, the water had receded, but we were also dealing with 25+ mph wind. We were all so very sad that they could not get married on the basketball court, but plan B ended up working out great, basketball hoop and all. You will love how well the details of this wedding were incorporated to marry their theme. Be sure to pay attention to the program & save the date – they are so neat & designed by my dear friend & Courtney’s sister-in-law, Kelly Moses. Instead of your typical flower girl, they had a ball girl, which may have been one of the cutest outfits ever. The floral arrangements were places inside of basketballs cut in half. These were not just any basketballs, they were ones Courtney had grown up playing with. When choosing a color scheme for their wedding, Courtney told her brother she wanted it to be Indiana sunset. After a crazy weather day, by the evening we were able to head outdoors for a quick photo with a good ol’ Indiana sunset and cornfield backdrop. It was perfect!

Sit back, grab some popcorn, and enjoy the replay of #teamdelks.
